In my quest for building the best draft strategy for the 2009 fantasy baseball season, I’m scouring the web for as many free and paid resources ranking major league baseball players. Here’s my list of resources for 2009 fantasy baseball rankings for other managers this season.

Pro Fantasy Baseball’s Top 250 Rankings – This list also includes sleepers, cheat sheets and tips for your fantasy baseball draft. Lists are printable as well.

Razzball has a series of 2009 fantasy baseball rankings every fantasy baseball manager should check out. Some of the specific ones I’ve bookmarked are:

Yahoo Sports has started releasing their articles and resources for fantasy baseball this season. In addition to the overall Yahoo Experts rankings by position, the first two fantasy baseball position primers are up (for first base and third base position eligibility)

  • I also enjoy Yahoo’s fantasy baseball mock draft as well, and finding it after publication can be pretty difficult (thank you Yahoo for finding ways to bury good content)
  • Here’s a link to round 6, which includes links to the other 5 rounds (with analysis) at the very top of the article.

ESPN has compiled their complete 2009 fantasy baseball projections. This resource can be filtered by position, last name and team and includes a brief commentary per player.

Commercial or Fee Based Resources
With so much information for free online it’s really difficult to justify buying rankings reports for fantasy baseball, but two services I’ve found are worth looking into. Please note that I am not being compensated at all for either service.

  • RotoWorld’s 2009 Online Draft Guide – for only $14.95 this draft guide looks to provide a massive amount of information, including over 1,000 player profiles, print-on-demand and draft cheat sheets. I’d consider investing the 14 bucks just because I use their free resources for player news so much that it would seem more like a donation.
  • Rotowire is entirely a subscription based service but I’ve historically found the site to be the most update resource for fantasy sports news during the season. The Rotowire sports analysts also seem to spend a great deal of time and energy compiling draft rankings, projects and advice in easy to read/manage formats. Fantasy baseball managers can choose between a $14.99 draft package or $39.99 package covering the entire season.

That is it for my research thus far. If you know of an fantasy baseball article, blog or website resource that I am missing (commercial or free), please let me know via the comments below and I’ll add it to this list. Best of luck with your 2009 fantasy baseball season!

are there any decent ranking sites that frequently updated throughout the season? i’ve been searching forever for a decent rankings list that will give me at a glance the true rankings of guys playing over their heads (ubaldo) and guys that aren’t playing as good as they should be. cbs is ok but their rankings don’t seem too accurate
