Evan Longoria Backing Up Bartlett at Shortstop

Evan Longoria was a preseason favorite to be a top-tiered fantasy contributor as a rookie this year. Hitting 5th in an extremely talented Rays lineup, Longoria has emerged from an early slump in May to post solid numbers: 7 HR, 28 RBI and 22 Runs. He’s hit safely in the last 6 games and is batting .340 since May 15th.
The recent news that Longoria will now backup Jason Bartlett at shortstop should have fantasy owners who were on the fence picking him up as soon as possible.
In Yahoo leagues, a SS-eligible Longoria would be outpacing guys like Jhonny Peralta, Derek Jeter and Edgar Renteria at this point in the season. In deeper leagues where owners play corner and middle infield positions, it would be insane for him to still be available as a free agent right now.
CI eligible position players are deeper in Yahoo Leagues, with approximately 30 - 35 players ranked in the top 200. MI players represent somewhere around 20 - 25 players and only 13 are eligible at shortstop.
